Empowering Institutions to Secure Biotechnology and Genomic Innovations

Join us for a unique learning and collaboration opportunity as part of the SOTER Workshop Series on Protecting Biotechnology and Genetic Data. This international initiative brings together experts and institutional leaders from Serbia, Croatia, and the wider region to discuss and strengthen biosafety, biosecurity, and intellectual property (IP) protection in the era of emerging biotechnologies and genomics.

Why Attend?

Advancements in biotechnology and genomic research offer transformative benefits but also introduce new security, ethical, and legal challenges. This workshop series is designed to help academic, research, private, and diagnostic institutions:

  • Understand international standards on biosafety, biosecurity, IP, and dual-use research.

  • Identify and share best practices for risk assessment, risk management, and data protection.

  • Strengthen national and regional capacity to protect innovation and qualify for international funding.

  • Network and collaborate with peers and experts from Serbia, Croatia, and beyond.

Virtual Workshop Series

Following the in-person event, two virtual follow-up workshops will support participants in applying workshop learnings in their own institutions, identifying additional learning needs, and sharing successful practices.
